Our first running of The Mystic Yak was a huge success and riders left raving about the awesome trails in Victoria’s High Country! Now we are back in 2026 for a second edition from 13th – 15th March.

This time we are ramping things up another notch, with three full stages, but both a full and short course option each day, to cater for riders of all levels and abilities.

We Want You – To Have A Crack At The Yak!!!

If you haven’t been to Victoria’s High Country you are in for a treat! The beautiful towns of Beechworth, Yackandandah and Bright play host to our long weekend, whilst the Mystic MTB Park and the Indigo Epic Trail networks that form the majority of our course are as good a trails as any you will ride in Australia.

I have done a few multiday racing events in the past in Tasmania and on the mainland, this one was set up and organised excellently and it was good to enjoy the post racing vibes over lunch and a drink meeting lots of great riders from all over Australia. The rider comraderie was awesome and everyone was very supportive of everyone’s riding abilities and just getting out there and giving it a go.

Important Notice to All Followers!
Unfortunately we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel the Mystic Yak event planned for March 13-15 due to low rider registration numbers to date.
Despite promoting the event heavily over the past three months, registrations have unfortunately not reached the level required for us to proceed and deliver a high-quality event for our riders, stakeholders and the broader community.
We have today communicated the cancellation directly with all riders who had registered and informed them that their full entry fees will be refunded. We also felt that we needed to make this decision early enough for people to be able to adjust travel plans and bookings without incurring costs.
Right now, events are tough to deliver, but we will continue to explore ways that we may be able to pivot and deliver quality events for the mountain bike community in the future! 🙏

Stage 3 @ Beechworth / Indigo Epic Trail.
What a course we have put together to finish the Mystic Yak for 2026!
Starting on the Beechworth side of the Indigo Epic Trail riders will head out past Lake Kerford and into a loop of some of the best trails, including a second dose of Gold Rush and Homeward Bound. But the payoff for this stage is without doubt the amazing descent to the Finish Line on the Baarmutha Belter trail.
Empty the tank on this final stage then head to Bridge Road Brewers just up from the finish line in town for presentations and a well earned beer and bite to eat!

Short Course : 30km / 672m elevation🚵

This stage promises to present a true test for riders across the renown trails of Mystic Bike Park.
Don`t be fooled by the perceived shortness of these stages, the elevation and technical single track will present a massive challenge! After a testing climb from the start, ahead lies classic trails such as Flowmingo, Tombstone, Sugar Glider and The Rapids. The Full Course includes a second climb back up to conquer Lemon Squeeze, Couch Surfer and Shred Kellys Last Stand.
Full Course : 34km / 916m elevation🚵
Short Course : 22km / 570m elevation🚵

The postcard moment is no doubt the crossing at Nine Mile Creek on the Gold Rush Trail but the Homeward Bound 6km descent to the Finish Line is the payoff. 📸
The Full Course includes some additional single track toward the end of the stage, while the Short Course takes a fire road early to skip some technical single track early in the course.

Our admin team will be set up here on the Thursday afternoon prior to the event for you to collect your Registration Packs when you come into town. 🚵
And from 5pm we will hold a Welcome Function at the venue, including a Rider Q&A session. From there we would recommend you enjoy one of their famed Pizzas and of course sample one or two of their fine brews! 🍕
But don`t have too many as three BIG days are ahead, with the good news being that our Final Presentations will be back at Bridge Road Brewers after Stage 3 where you can enjoy more than a couple of well earned drinks!🍻
